total eclipse April 8 The Jack, person looking up at sky with eclipse glasses

Good afternoon,

I hope this message finds you well.

I wanted to take a moment and invite you to join us for a special event at UA Little Rock next month.

The campus will host a special eclipse viewing event on Monday, April 8 from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. at the Jack Stephens Center.

path of totality with shape of Arkansas, darkened area with path of solar eclipse and Trojan head for location of UALR

We are excited to be in the path of totality – where the Moon’s shadow completely covers the Sun. Being in the path of totality means the sky will become dark as if it were dawn or dusk.

To celebrate, we're inviting the community and alumni to come experience the eclipse on campus.

What to Expect

This special event is bringing together the entire campus community for this once-in-a generation experience.

During the event you can:

  • Receive complimentary glasses for safe eclipse viewing
  • Experience the eclipse through multiple telescopes
  • Hear the eclipse translated to sound
  • Explore our portable planetarium
  • Dive into interactive learning sessions
  • Gain insights from eclipse experts and author Alaina Levine
  • Enjoy food and activities for the whole family

If we can answer any questions about the event, please reach out at klsmith4@ualr.edu or call 501-916-3208.

I look forward to connecting with you then.
